Healing, Life Energy,
and Kinesiology
Introduction
The word, kinesiology, means different things to different people. The
most common association with this word that I've come across, is with
physical exercises and body gymnastics. That aspect of kinesiology is
taught in the colleges and universities. For want of a better word,
I'll refer to this as 'traditional kinesiology'. This one has very little
or nothing to do with the detection and elimination of diseases and
illnesses. Even within kinesiology itself there are branches and specialties.
For instance, Applied Kinesiology (AK) is not the same as Specialized
Kinesiology; Likewise, specialties like One Brain (aka Three-In-One
Concepts) can differ significantly from AK. But all these specialties
developed from AK. The various differences do not necessarily reflect
disagreements, but rather the process of growth and expansion.
What is Kinesiology as a healing
modality?
Kinesiology, as applied to healing, is a system that relies on the detection
of energy imbalances in the body by simple muscle testing. Kinesiologists
realize that energy imbalances in the body are the causes of physical
and non physical illnesses; this is irrespective of what names are given
to their bodily manifestations. A trained kinesiologist uses the muscle
testing as a biofeedback mechanism to arrive at the causes of a client's
health problems. He also uses same to find what specific energy balancing
techniques will restore the patient to health.
How does this work, could you
explain more?
Thousands of years ago, the Chinese and the Tibetans had realized that
everything in nature owes its existence to the presence of life energy,
or 'chi' in its system. This life force was discovered to flow around
the body in channels which we call the 'meridians'. Now, each meridian
has an organ and muscle association. Therefore, a disturbance in any
of the body organs and functions would be mirrored in the relevant meridian
and then reflected in relevant muscle when kinesiologically tested.
We can now see that a kinesiology muscle assessment (or muscle testing
as is popularly called), is not actually a test to see how strong or
how weak a muscle is physically, but rather, an energy assessment technique
of a far more profound nature.
How is balance restored to
the person whose energy is blocked?
That depends very much on his findings. For instance, he could do simple
non-invasive manipulations on energy points lying along the associated
meridians on the physical body to stimulate energy flow and clear the
blockages. He may also work on muscles associated with the meridians.
Often, he might recommend nutritional support, or even life-style modifications
if these are indicated. It all depends on his clinical findings. Referral
to your family physician might be done if the cause is something that
could be better handled by conventional medical treatment.
Can I continue to take my
prescribed medications as well if I'm on Kinesiology treatment?
Yes. Never discontinue your medications except on the advice of your
doctor. You should let him know that you are also receiving kinesiology
care. The sad fact is that your physician may have no knowledge whatsoever
as to what kinesiology and energy medicine are: Therefore, he might
not be in a good position to advise you. In fact most conventional physicians
will dismiss all forms of holistic management as hoax or quackery since
their medical school training left them totally ignorant of the subtle
energy interactions within the body. However, a growing number of western
trained physicians are now beginning to embrace holistic healing so
we can begin to see the situation changing for the better.
What health problems can kinesiology
solve?
This is a rather tricky question to answer because, unlike conventional
medicine where diseases are being treated (and this has led to a long
list of various disease classifications) kinesiology does not treat
any named illnesses or diseases. It treats the whole person (body-mind-spirit,
if you like). That's why it is holistic. When the energy imbalances
are corrected, then their outward manifestations (which constitute the
named disease conditions) are eliminated. This makes a lot of sense
you'll agree. However, for the purpose of communication only, we can
say that nearly all disease conditions that are treatable by conventional
medicine could be helped by kinesiology. In fact, some health problems
that have defied conventional medicine do yield to kinesiology and other
modalities of Vibrational medicine. The kinesiologist works on the energy
realms to affect the physical, whereas the conventional physician works
on the the physical realms to affect the energy level. Both are very
essential for the restoration of harmony.
Just to be a little more specific,
what non physical problems can you assist with kinesiology?
Kinesiology can be used for stress defusion and stress management; for
allergies and food sensitivities elimination; elimination of fears,
phobias, and anxiety. For getting rid of compulsive behaviors such as
addictions, obsessions and other unwanted habits. An area where kinesiology
is gaining recognition is in the correction of learning disabilities
(or dyslexia), both in adults and children. It can also be used for
the setting and the realization of goals relating to career, relationships,
and business; this needs more advanced techniques though. Weight management
is another area, and the success of this depends on the ability to access
(using kinesiology) the core problems that led to the weight problems
in the first place.
How long does it take for healing
to occur with kinesiology treatment?
This is difficult to say as a lot depends on the nature of your health
problems and how long you've been suffering. The degree to which you
are willing to assume responsibility for you health (or ill health)
is another crucial factor. Generally speaking, the more acute problems
tend to clear up more rapidly, sometimes even on the very first visit.
More lasting or chronic problems however, do take much longer. But it
is not unusual to see problems that had persisted for years being resolved
within a few weeks, or even days, after commencing kinesiology treatment.
Clients sometimes watch in pleasant amazement when this happen. Note
that most clients have been receiving other forms of therapy (without
results) prior to going to see a kinesiologist.
Do I need to hold certain beliefs
of a religious nature before kinesiology and other holistic health-care
modalities work for me?
No. Kinesiology, while being holistic and drawing a lot especially from
Eastern energy healing systems, does not require one to hold any belief
system for it to work. In fact, most beneficiaries were disbelievers
in its power to heal before they came for consultation. Others just
tried it as a last resort. Kinesiology is non-religious. It only requires
you to have the desire to get well, and to carry out whatever instructions
the therapist has given you. That also translates to taking responsibility
for one's health, and we've said that before. Note that because some
of the instructions given to you by a therapist are usually very simple,
many people tend to take them for granted and ignore them. You should
try to carry out these instructions to derive maximum benefit from this
form of therapy.
